Bridgwater
New commercial vehicle workshop

The client engaged Ample Power Limited to construct a new commercial vehicle workshop on the site of a former vehicle garage/workshop. This brownfield site, which was previously occupied by a lorry and bus servicing station, is located on an industrial estate in Bridgwater, Somerset.

The proposal was to include the demolition of the existing facility and replace with an L-shaped building for the servicing, repairs and maintenance of lorries.

The construction of reinforced concrete foundations was a critical part of the project, ensuring durability and longevity for the workshop. In addition, we implemented an efficient surface water drainage system, featuring ACO drains and channels with the necessary manholes, gullies and quality fittings, including both foul and storm drains to help mitigate the risk of flooding.

Service ducting was installed to accommodate utilities and services, ensuring easy access for maintenance and future upgrades. The substructures were developed to support heavy industrial activities and HGV movements.

We applied 4651 sqm of reinforced concrete foundations, floor slabs and inspection pits with blinded hardcore beds with damp-proof membrane and insulation. We also installed precast concrete manhole chambers with F900 covers and a 600 x 600 mm clear opening.

A high-performance CCTV system was installed including both bullet and turret style cameras with motion detectors and video recorder.

The end result is a superior building engineered to the exacting standards of BS5950 with structural calculations for Building Control as standard.
