Situated on a trapezium shaped parcel of land which extends to approximately 0.64 ha within the Langage Business Park in Beechwood Way, the site is surrounded by a range of different businesses trading in the immediate vicinity. It has a large L-shaped two storey building and is an attractive location for HGV servicing as the motorway is conveniently close.

Summary

This project required the alteration of an existing building to form workshop premises for commercial vehicles to include the erection of new lorry washes, compressor housing building, alterations to vehicular access as well as the extension of hardstanding and the erection of a 2.4 m palisade fence.

Scope of work

Our role within this project was as follows:

• To remove the existing three vehicular doors and enlarge openings to provide wider openings fitted with new up and over insulated panel doors.
• To provide six new additional vehicle door openings all fitted with up and over insulated panel doors.
• To create a smaller doorway for the delivery of parts complete with insulated panel door.
• To remove the existing glazed atrium entrance and replace with a flat powder coated aluminium framed glazed panel incorporating entrance doors.
• To install two new steel personnel doors.
• To install four new ground floor aluminium windows, one on the western elevation and three on the southern elevation.
• To carry out the painting of all existing metal trims, flashings and windows.

Results

We installed a new steel portal frame lorry wash / compressor housing building with a footprint of 38.8 sqm and an overall ridge height of 3.9 m. The building is split into four separate compartments to house the new oil, waste oil and jet wash store.

We also widened the existing site access where it meets the highway and replaced the existing tarmac parking area with a new concrete yard.

We installed a 2.4m high galvanised palisade fence with gates at the site entrance.
